The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies?

I don’t know if they were the best, but let me back up…I wanted to bake some cookies for a couple of co-workers who are very helpful. I saw this recipe over at Good Things Catered and wanted to try it. I thought the ones I made earlier in the summer were very good, but I’m all about trying to find the best chocolate chip cookie.

I tried a little bit…okay more than a little bit of the cookie dough first. Yum! The first batch I cooked a tad too long so they weren’t as chewy. The next batch came out chewy and tasty. I don’t think they beat out the ones I mentioned above though. Don’t worry, I will continue to test chocolate chip cookies out and report back (any excuse to bake and eat chocolate chip cookies).

Chocolate Chip Cookies
Adapted from America’s Test Kitchen via Good Things Catered

Ingredients:
2 cups plus 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp kosher salt
12 Tbsp (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted & cooked until warm
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg plus 1 yolk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:
1. Adjust oven racks to upper and lower-middle positions in oven and heat to 325 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.

2. Whisk dry ingredients together, set aside. With electric mixer or by hand, mix butter and sugars until thoroughly combined. Beat in egg, yolk, and vanilla until combined. Add dry ingredients and beat at low speed just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips.

3. Spoon out about a tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball. Place dough onto cookie sheet leaving about 2 inches space between each one.

4. Bake, reversing position of cookie sheet halfway through baking, until cookies are light golden brown and outer edges start to harden yet centers are soft and puffy (this was about 18 minutes for me). Cool cookies on sheets until you can lift them without breaking and place on wire rack to continue cooling.

Yields about 36 cookies.
